Unpatched, Windows XP Service Pack 2 is not able to connect to wireless networks that use WPA2 encryption which is what you are -- and should be -- using. Older hardware also may be unable to connect using WPA2, but that doesn't seem to be your issue because you connected before the restore and can connect now using Linux. How satisfied are you with this reply? Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site.
This site in other languages x. Tech-No , the page will not open directly to the drivers , he will have to select the model of his desktop to Dimension and choose the E again It does on my end. That's why he should drop the menu down and select Windows XP. However, if the link doesn't work I don't know. Inlovewithnight, when you do download all your drivers burn them to a Cd for future use just in case you need again.
OK, I went onto the Dell Drivers site. I downloaded the "chipset" and "audio" drivers. Under "video" drivers, there are eleven and I'm not sure which one to download. I also do not see "onboard Lan" or "modem" drivers. Most likely you have the Intel-Driver G Graphics Controller assuming you don't have a dedicated video card. Of the four entries under "Network" all you need is the Intel-Driver to get your internet running. The rest are not necessary.
The modem is under "Communications". You either have a Conexant or an Intel Modem. I always remove the side cover and look with a flashlight for a label to determine which one it is.
Most of the time with the Dell's I've seen, the modems are Conexant. Again, all you will really need is the Driver, not the utilities unless you prefer to have them. Oh, the audio driver will be the SigmaTel-Driver unless you have a dedicated Creative sound card.
OK, I'm on the Internet and I have sound! You should first check to see if your network adapter na is setup and configured properly. You want to go to Device Manager by right clicking on the My Computer icon from your desktop.
Scroll down and click Properties. The Device Manager window will open listing all the devices for you machine.
Look for na in the list. You would have a problem if 1. You would have to find the drivers for your na to reload it to fix this problem. Here you should see your na listed and showing Disabled, Connected or Network cable unplugged.
If it's disabled you can enable it by right clicking on the icon and selecting Enable. You probably won't see it as Connected because it would most likely be working. If the network cable is not plugged in then it would display Network cable unplugged. See if na is available Then check if you don't have any yellow icon in a form of! Thats all. Wish you luck success. Thanks to both of you!
I will try this in the next few days. Its def something I havent tried yet. I will get back to you There is so NA at all. And there are question marks!! This is what I get in device manager for? Other Devices -? Ethernet Controller -? SM Bus Controller -? Anyways, Still needing some help, Thanks to you all out there IVe been able to narrow some ideas down but still need help.
So there is no NA Present in device manager and I cant seem to find the driver for it on my disks, is there any hope for me now???? Hello and welcome to Techspot. Go to the dell website , download and install the the drivers for your model.
Regards Howard  . Yeah I see that, Im just desperate for imput haha Its ok.. The computer has no internet so how am I supposed to go to the dell website to get the driver?
Is there a way to dl a driver and burn it onto disk so I can actually get it to the comp that needs it? Use the computer your using to post on Techspot. Then, download the drivers and burn them to a cd. Put the cd in your dell computer and install the drivers from the cd. Regards Howard.
