A keyboard button in the upper left corner pulls in the device's native touch screen keyboard for keyboard commands and typing. The port uses the Android SDL multimedia library. When the application launches, you can choose 'Device configuration' on the SDL splash screen to turn on extra control features, like an on-screen d-pad touch control, as well as configuration options such as keyboard size and transparency and mouse-click emulation. The port is compatible with a wide range of Android devices, including most phones and tablets.

On smaller phones, the game can be difficult to play because of the limited screen space and very small tiles. This can be managed to an extent by reducing the tile dimensions of the UI in the game's configuration files, which are in the same configuration files you would see in the desktop version of Crawl. An unofficial android port is available for free on the Google Play Store. Alternatively, you may download the official port from SourceForge.

To install the application, a number of options are available. Note that for all the installation options, you will have to check 'Unknown sources' in your device's application settings to allow installation of non-Market applications.

Also, good call on secret doors. Not sure if that statement makes sense. If they are used not at all, how are they secret? They are nothing. If they are used rarely but meaningfully, I would see the change as good as well.

I had both Lamia and Jorgrun generated in my first ever 3-rune win and new Vaults almost gave me a heart attack which is a good thing. Keep up the good work fellas. Note that DCSS won that award 3 years ago but has fallen slightly since then. DCSS I actually play more frequently as it is a quicker play-thru and a better eSport in a sense, but I admire ToME 4 a bit more in what it is trying to do and the chances it is taking and broader features it supports….

Comment by ZionRavescene. Count me as one who is glad to see secret doors gone. This is definitely a case of perceived loss and irrational loss aversion , not actual loss. However—like most games—it leaves me wishing it had a lot of the usability features DCSS has, so I keep coming back here.

Yeah, they were ok, but the player was still going to use the pretty much in the same manner than other existing spells, mainly mephitic cloud, except it had a sort of tedious potion luggage mini-game.

Having all those effects available so quickly might have been a bit too much for a level 2 spell. However, fulsome distillation had other uses than just providing ammo for evaporate. I personally think that foulsome distillation and evaporate were unbalanced in the early game and useless in the mid to late game thanks to the risk of not knowing which cloud would be generated if not using a potion of poison or confusion.
